The Gift of Presence

Scripture: Matthew 1:23 – 'They will call Him Immanuel, which means 'God with us.'

On Christmas, we celebrate a special gift: the gift of the presence of God being with us. Jesus represents this gift. He came not only to save us but also to walk with us, sharing our joys and sorrows. He invites us into a closer, meaningful relationship with Him. This is a God who comes close, breaking down barriers, and gently says, "You are not alone," filling our hearts with comfort and reassurance.

The concept of God living closely with His people can be traced back to the ancient Tabernacle in the wilderness. There, during difficult times, God’s presence stayed with the Israelites, helping them along the way. In Jesus, this sacred presence became real, allowing us to see God and experience Him in our lives.

God's presence is a powerful reality that resonates within us. imagine being present with someone during their pain or joy can bring profound healing. Jesus offers this same healing presence to us. He meets us in our fears, surrounds us in our loneliness, and addresses our doubts with understanding.

As we prepare for the Christmas season, we look forward to gathering with family and friends. These moments remind us that the best gift we can give each other is not things, but love and our presence. We will enjoy shared laughs, comforting hugs, and the warmth of our connections. These moments will capture the season's true spirit and show us that real love grows when we are together.

Immanuel, thank you for being with me at every moment. Help me to rest in Your presence and share it with others this Christmas. Amen.
